Textbook Adoption Support Available

The UCLA Curtis Center’s Mathematics Textbook Adoption Support service engages district mathematics teams in a structured, collaborative process for selecting instructional materials aligned to the California Mathematics Content Standards and Framework.

  • In Phase 1, a Curtis Center Mathematics Specialist facilitates a full-day session to build shared understanding of the Standards and Framework and collaboratively refine a Curtis Center-designed rubric to reflect both the Standards and Framework as well as district’s unique instructional vision and adoption priorities.
  • In Phase 2, the adoption team participates in multiple days of guided textbook evaluation using the rubric to assess alignment and narrow selections to two finalists.
  • In Phase 3, teachers pilot the finalist materials, then engage in a full-day, post-pilot re-evaluation session to analyze implementation data, reflect on classroom usability and supports, and revisit rubric scores to inform next steps in the adoption process.

This process can be modified to work within your district’s parameters and adoption priorities.
