The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation has awarded The Curtis Center approximately $250K to expand its Applied Math Program (AMP) to Grade 6. The funding will support a new financial literacy curriculum aligned to Grade 6 math standards, bringing AMP to a complete a three-year middle school sequence. AMP motivates student success in mathematics by bringing “windows and mirrors” into their classroom experience: engaging them with current, relevant applications of the grade-level mathematics they are learning (windows) and videos and vignettes of a diverse group of living mathematicians and scientists (mirrors).
